Feelings are travelers

Feelings are time travelers. They travel with us growing up, they bring us back to the times we experienced while younger, they bring us to a beautiful world when we are scared, or remind us what’s really important when we feel we are too self-confident.

Music, so often, does the same thing for us. Creating feelings while hearing a familiar sound, melody, singing voice, it can bring us far away in our memories, back to those innocent times you didn't have to worry about anything, times when parents would feed you and put to bed for afternoon nap.... Times of the first date, dance with the sparks of closeness with the objects of your platonic desire in your high-school years, favourite songs of your late grandpa that your grandma keeps listening to, song you danced in the kitchen with your mom to, songs that were on the radio when you received a saddening news, song that was a favorite of that friend you had a secret crush on growing up.

Yes, feelings are travelers, and so are the songs... having an instant power to make you cry or smile, or cry & laugh at the same time, and all the time it needs is the first few seconds, first couple beats of the melody, first sound of the voice of an opera singer.

Hmm, I have quite a lot of those special songs that transfer me to places beautiful and far, in the first second of hearing them. But I'm only going to mention one. "High Hopes" by Pink Floyd.

The most melancholically beautiful song that brings you back to childhood memories when you were running down the fields in your grandma's village, song that takes you through your life when you close your eyes, back to your parents' house, family and friends in your town, song the melody of which makes your mind 'skip the time' and see yourself growing old with the one you love....song that makes you cry when you hear it sometimes...
